    win 10 sound wows

I had win7 then I got sick of the emails so I went to win 10 on upgrade, and it went well for 6 weeks { long enough to be out of rollback} then my processor died. As it was running a bit slow I decided to do the old up grade, I had a processor sitting around {new] so I bought a M/B to suit and a new graphics card.
They all installed ok and when I rebooted I had lost all my audio devices and the computer will not shut down After searching and reading The idea that could cause it was the upgrade, it really needs clean install
So yesterday I did that and reinstalled all the drivers from realtek and the m/b drivers from Gigabyte graphics from amd
No difference Still got the same problems
earlier this week I got so sick of it I went to microsoft support and A real good guy did a remote on the computer and rechecked everything I had, The he gave me an email link and said he was going to reboot and get back to him When I put the link in firefox it could not find it so went back in the queue with a case number. And got the creature from the black lagoon and all she said was thats not our problem and if you want help you have to pay for it
so I am back to square one. No sound, big red tick on speakers, services say audio running and on auto. Right click on speakers and it says I have one or more audio devices not running

Did you try updating Chipset drivers from Gigabyte site ? Lots of other drivers depend on that ?

After all the hassles and the brilliant help from the forum I decided it must be the board. So I contacted my supplier and overnight he sent me a replacement. Installed this morning and booted up Waited with Baited breath for the speaker red cross to go away YES and then the shut down test, YES so it has sound, and it will shutdown on its own now

So even brand new parts can be faulty Not often, but sometimes, and you tear your hair out for nothing, trying to fix a problem beyond your control. If you do all the right things from the manufacturers website and it is still custard, You have no choice, bite the bullet and speak up
