    SSD Disappears in Disk Management When Formatted

    Hi,

    So whenever I try to reformat my SSD from unallocated to NTFS I get this error.

    Does anyone know what to do?

    Apparently I'm not seeing any unallocated space on a drive or partition shown on your picture. Some small partitions haven't been assigned a drive letter and shouldn't be. But an empty drive not showing there could mean the BIOS doesn't see it [has to happen before Windows or any Operating System can see it], could be the drive or the drive controller on the motherboard is bad. When an OS can't see a drive I boot to a GPARTED LiveCD to see if the drive is functioning and if so can use it to partition and format it.

    Berton you can get GParted on a USB with Tuxboot. The bios is the first place to look. Cable second, along with power.

    Maybe I don't want it on a Thumb drive, some of the computers I have to deal with don't work well that way. I mention the LiveCD as nearly all computers with an ODD/ Optical Disk Drive can use it.

    Thumb drives are the alternative, since a lot of workplaces disable the DVD drive. I keep both types on hand, in case I run into a unit with a failing DVD drive or failing/locked down USB ports.

    The operation failed to complete because the Disk Management console view is not up-to-date. Refresh the view by using the refresh task. If the problem persists close the Disk Management Console, then restart Disk Management or restart the computer.
    If the Linux boot shows the drive or re-seating the drive doesn't help

    See if this helps

    Add a new User variable
    System > Environment variables
    devmgr_show_nonpresent_devices = 1

    Launch Device Manager
    View menu > Show hidden
    Expand Storage Volumes
    uninstall Unknown device if present
    Uninstall any Ghost entry (the icon is light grey)

    Restart your machine
