I tried different ports on my laptop and my computer doesn't do anything. Usually when I plug something in my computer makes a noise. I've used the same cable with my last printer and no problems. I bought a second printer cable and my laptop still doesn't detect the printer. It will detect my cell phone and my webcam

Just to be sure, are there are still yellow exclamation marks still after the 'Universal serial bus controllers' ?

    Hi,

Can you add your printer in devices & printers but let windows find the drivers.

Then install the HP software after that?

I did try that and it didnt work. I called Windows and they fixed. They had to update the ports.

Ah , I'm too late , yes , the Yellow exclamation marks on the controllers/ports meant there was no way anything attached to those would have been recognised or even found.

Called Windows ? Mean Microsoft ? Universal Serial Bus Controller drivers are usually part of the chipset drivers, Intel or AMD and most USB Hub, USB Root Hub and USB Mass Storage use a Microsoft driver.

Other devices worked on this port you said. I was going to ask if you updated system drivers, but seeing this Laptop had no updates and the ones on site were up to Windows XP operating system. When you upgraded this laptop it would of not changed the drivers already installed unless you did a custom clean install. Just made me wonder.

Glad you fixed it and for future help change Computer Type in system specs to Laptop instead of PC/Desktop.
