External HDD not responsive / Solution

    Hi guys,

I don't know whether this is the correct place to communicate this like this but,

I keep a lot of really important business data on board a WD External HDD, and a couple days ago i FREAKED out to find it non responsive.

I plugged it in to the usb 3.0 port, it spinned and - nothing.
Gone through all ports - nothing!
Attached it to my Windows 10 tablet too in its 3.0 usb port - nothing!!

Man I could feel my feet go out on me literally. Sweating buckets!
So from, may god forgive me - all the swear words I did say and a couple of shutdowns, nothing really happened.
The drive just spinned and stopped.

I have no idea why this happened but - I hit restart and voila. All up and running again and working!

So guys, if you have SSDs and have turned on fastboot, remember a lot of your issues and nerves can be solved by a simple stupid restart.

I don't know why this happened. Happy like a little baby my stuff is secure.

I did get value out of this board - hope this helps some of you too.

Please get another usb-connecting external hard-drive, make full images of your WD data collection onto this 2nd hard-drive. Macrium Reflect will probably be best for this.

    Interesting.
What a simple reboot could do.

Yes. I have no idea why that happened honestly.

Update : A sfc/scannow did find errors. Must be some update gone wrong or something.
