I also have a problem with safe eject in windows 10. No error messages though, safe eject shows drive letter but no other info. Also it is grayed out and inoperative. I always have to shut down the system. This happens with any drive 500mg or bigger.

HA! I just found my problem. The culprit is with AVG Free. I had to go to Advanced Settings - Computer Protection - AntiVirus - and look under AntiVirus Settings - And uncheck "Scan boot sector of removable media". Click Apply then OK and then reboot. Now I can eject my flash drive.

Sorry this did not fix the problem

    What about trying this:
Insert your USB drive, open Explorer, right click on your USB drive and select properties.
Click on the hardware tab at the top then highlight your USB drive in the list and click on properties at the bottom

    Click on change settings:

Then click on the policies tab at the top
and you should have 2 choices:

Same problem here, my usb has quick removal enabled by default (I think most usb sticks should) but I did have an issue once where a file wouldn't load so I think pulling it out can possibly have some bad effects occasionally.
