old Microsoft mouse, middle click problem

    Hello,
I've got an old Microsoft optical wheel mouse which I like very much, but it's middle-click function doesn't work right, apparently. I've got a program called "Ninjatrader 8" which trades the stock market (futures market, technically) and this software requires a certain type of action where you place a trade by holding down the ctrl key and tapping the middle mouse button. For some reason, my mouse won't do what's required. The scroll wheel (what functions as a middle mouse button) will indeed click, meaning it goes up and down, but it apparently doesn't do the required action in the program I'm running. What I'm wondering, and hoping someone here can help me with, is to figure out how to configure this mouse so it will do what's required. I've downloaded Microsoft's "mouse and keyboard center 2.8" and when I run it, it says, "No supported device detected." Rats. Am I just out of luck, or is there something else I can try to get this mouse to activate it's middle-click? Not sure this'll help, but on the back of the mouse it says, P/N X802382. I assume that's the part number?
    Thanks,
    Tisker

Hi Tisker. Welcome to the TenForums @Tisker

I've never used this product but in searching for an answer I found it. Please do some research especially as you want to use with a trading package where $$$ are involved.

Should you download use your AV to scan prior to execution. The product is available on cnet and there was a write up in PC World. I'm just an overly cautious person.
