    No keyboard after sleep

I resurrected my old HP DV5-1044CA. I did a fresh Windows 10 install. Strangely when the laptop sleeps or if I put it to sleep with the power button or by closing the lid, I can wake it with the keyboard or power button and use the keyboard to enter my PIN but after that the keyboard no longer works. I have to restart to get the keyboard working again.
Anyone have thoughts on how to resolve this?

likely a driver issue ,hp support only shows Vista and win7 driver for you laptop ..so I would say start with Device manager .and the keyboard drives and see if win10 will look for a updated driver ... but I could be wrong of course, it could bean issue with power options, and you may have to just stop using the sleep options

    Thanks for the response Caper.
The original driver was the standard Microsoft PS2 keyboard driver.
The current driver is Standard 101/102-Key or Microsoft Natural PS/2 Keyboard with HP QLB.
The same issue persists with either driver.

    Thanks again Caper.
I found quite a few posts on different sites regarding the same issue on W7, W8 and the tech preview and final versions of W10 but none of the resolutions work for me.
Funny the keyboard remains active for a few seconds after the pin is entered. I guess I'll just disable sleep for now. If a driver issue it's unlikely there will be a new one released anytime soon.

Incidentally, I observed a very similar behavior on my desktop two days ago. The desktop machine was sleeping. I hit spacebar on my keyboard to wake it up and it woke up successfully. But after that the keyboard had powered off. I was unable to type in my password.

Rebooting the machine "fixed" the problem. Since then the issue has not reappeared.

I've tried to update the driver on every device in the system. I disabled USB selective suspend and PCI express link state power management as well as unchecking allow the computer to turn off this device to save power on each of the Root Hubs. Nothing changes the behaviour, the keyboard still stops working after the computer wakes from sleep.
This is an example of one of the discussions I found regarding this same issue. Keyboard not working after waking laptop from sleep (build 10041) : Windows10

and no solid fix there either ,, one person fixed there with a bios update ,and that a fix for a lot of laptop issues ,

did you try , system file checker , run this command from admin command prompt ,,,,
    SFC /SCANNOW

Yep I did, I didn't expect SFC to find anything since it was a clean install of W10.
