That's what I saw 2 years ago. It does not depends on your OS. If you have a I generations processor or any processor released after 2010 then this is shown.

Hello and welcome to tenforums ,it simply means someone put a 32bit windows 10 on a computer that could possibly run 64bit ,windows 10, having said that, not all 64 bit processors will run win10 64bit,, I have a Acer Switch 10 ,with Atom 64bit cpu but when I tried to put 64bit win10 on it would not let me do so .. said it would not run it.
is this on the Dell laptop in your .my system Specs , did it come with Vista on it , Who installed win10 on it,

Apparently you know something about this subject. So I'll butt in and ask if you have info to enlighten me....................

I have a Dell 1420 laptop bought at least 5 years ago. It came with Windows Vista running 32-bit but with a 64 bit processor.
I have since upgraded it to Win 8 Pro > Win 8.1.1 > and now Win 10 Pro 32-bit.
At one time while it was still running Vista, I tried to install a 64-bit Vmware player to try out Win 8 Preview and Vmware won't install until I switched to a 32-bit version.
I have been wondering about that for quite a while.

I'm no expert ,I only know a bit about all things hardware ,and know what I have experienced myself .and I think its possible that the older 64bit cpu will not run win10 64bit , I have 2 older towers that I can put win7 64 on but not win8 or 10 64bit ,error message say, it not compatible

It is not at all unusual to have a 32 bit OS installed on a 64 bit capable computer. Most CPUs built in recent years are 64 bit capable and large numbers of them are running 64 bit operating systems. Whether an OS is 32 or 64 bit is a fundamental characteristic and does not change simply because it is installed on a 64 bit capabler computer.

With 4 GB or less RAM the advantages of a 64 bit OS are limited.

Yep an x64 processor can run either 32 bit or 64 bit windows. 64 bit processors were more the norm long before a 64 bit version of windows was mainstream.

I remember downloading and running the Windows XP 64 bit version trial just to check it out way back when, simply because I had an X64 processor.

You cannot install 64 bit applications on a 32 bit OS, even if the CPU is capable of running in 64 bit mode.
