    External Drive.


    Hi,
    I have a Seagate Barracuda ATA Mod.ST3120023A hard drive with XP installed. Is it possible to insert it in an external caddy with a usb connection and then boot into win xp from my Win10 64 bit PC to recover some files. And then I would like to format the drive and use it as an external backup. Or just format the drive without booting into XP. Will a more modern PC recognize the ATA drive.

    when connected via USB - windows 10 should be able to access the files on the external drive..
    without the need to boot XP
