Thanks. I didn't know about ASPI and ASAPI, but Nero already gave me the drive info I was looking for.

I don't know if ASPI and ASAPI is still needed in Windows 7 and newer OSes. As for Nero, Nero has a utility called InfoTool that should tell you everything which is more than the burning software will ever do. Also, make sure you have the latest firmware for the drive which is what the rpc1.org site was for.

The Nero InfoTool is exactly what I have. It says that my drive is compatible with every DVD type, which is all the information I was looking for at the time. My laptop is still under warranty so it probably has the most recent firmware.

Glad to hear that, you should still check the firmware revision to see if it is the most up to date one as many times the firmwares are released that fixes problems that the computer manufacturers don't know about.
