    bad hard drive

Wouldnt it just be my luck that discovered the re-certifed hard drive western digital sent me is partially bad from the start. This is what has seemed to have happened. I know this because I just got done doing a fresh clean install of 7 the other day and then right after that; upon doing a restart; I had to do a hard shutdown and then do a startup repair like 3 times in a row which to me is totally unacceptable. Now; western digital wants me to send my bad drive back to them. im not doing any such thing until they send me a NEW; still in the box drive. I dont have much more patietnance left for dealing with these idiotic companies garbage. Stuff that is beyond bs. Companies that seem like they just really dont care about catering to the customer.

Did you deal with WD directly ?
My experience with them is that they have very variable quality drives, depending which factory their drives come from. I've seen them sending back refurbished/repaired drives for RMA.

well i talked to a level 2 tech support manager and he took care of the issue for me and they are sending me a NEW still in the box hard drive. They did not have any regular black performance drives which is what the one that went bad is but they did have a enterprise drive that they are sending me.

Do yourself a flavor and get an SSD, anything, just for OS etc. Even cheapest one would do.

i wish i could do that mike! i don't have the funds to do that as i this is the time of the month i have monthly bills to pay so those will eat away at my pocket book. i will get a ssd the next chance i get but the next investment for me has to be a new backup device as my current one is bad and i somehow have to see if i can get the data off of it which i hope its not too late to do because windows won't detect my current backup drive.

i wish they would send me a replacement in the form of a ssd; but the chances of that happening are about as good as winning the lottery lol.

Seriously doubt that, a 2TB SSD costs like a small car !!!
