Expanding C drive without affecting My OS Windows 10?

I want to expand or merge the C drive (58GB) with the adjacent partition (90GB).Both are NTFS Volume. I do not want any problem with my Operating System. Can I expand or merge C drive with the adjacent partition to the right. Adjacent partition is empty. If yes how and with what software . Please elaborate. Thanks in advance

The 90GB partition must be next to C: Drive and unallocated so you must save your data in the 90GB partition first then delete the partition so it would be unallocated then open disk management, right click on C: ->Extend Volume.

topgundcp's method will certainly work, but I have never trusted Windows disk management. I prefer to use MiniTool Partition Wizard free:
Best Free Partition Manager for Windows | MiniTool Partition Free

There's nothing wrong with topgundcp's method - just my personal preference to use something else.

You would do the same steps in Partition Wizard making sure there is nothing in the 90gb partition you need to keep, because it will be erased.

    1. Delete the 90gb partition.
    2. Expand the C: drive partition into the resulting empty space.

Since you are working with your C: drive OS partition, Partition Wizard will probably tell you it needs to reboot to accomplish the second task - just let it reboot your computer and finish doing it's thing. Partition Wizard might have a partition merge function that would do it all with one step, not sure about that.

Added: yep, partition wizard does have a merge partition feature:

and it seems like the merge partition function would keep any data you happened to have on both partitions.

Mr NavyLCDR next to C drive I have "i" drive of 90 GB which does not have any data on it - completely empty. What I have understood is that I will have to first delete my "i" drive so that this drive becomes unallocated without any drive letter. After doing this I will have to expand C drive with the help of either partition wizard or Minitool. I have Minitool with me. Please rectify me if my notion is wrong. Also please note that i do not want to corrupt my OS in any case. I am a novice and reinstallation of OS will be too much for me.

Those steps would be correct. Expanding the C: drive into the unallocated space is probably the function least likely to cause a problem that you can do on a partition and I have never had MiniTool Partition Wizard corrupt data yet (and I really like to play around with my system). Just make double sure you are deleting the I: drive 90 GB partition and not C: drive!

OK. I will do as per your suggestion. I will ensure that I delete only "i" drive of 90 GB. Also please confirm that i will have to select the word "delete" from Mini Tool PW for deleting "i"drive partition.
I will do it after your confirmation only.

Why are we trying to make thing so complicated ? Even though Partition Wizard is a very good piece of software for other complex partition operations. In your case, You don't need any third party software to do this simple job.

    Just open "Disk Management"
    1. Right click on I: Drive then select "Delete Volume"
    2. Right Ckick On C: Drive then select "Extend Volume"

And that's all you need to do.

Mr Topgundcp, since Minitool Partition Wizard is already installed on my system and I am somewhat familiar with this software , I may find myself at ease if I use it. But I have not decided as yet finally to take the risk or not. I am very cautious regarding my OS. I think I will take sometime.
Anyway thanks for your valuable advice

That is correct, it is the delete button that you want for the I drive partition. That will make it unallocated space that you can expand C drive into.

    Mr NavyLCDR I did it.
But I made a blunder mistake by selecting resize. I thought that I will only increase the size by 42000 MB (Say 42GB). Therefore I first deleted the "I" partition. Then I right clicked C drive and selected resize. On the next window I allocated 42000 MB on the first row. Then applied the changes agreeing to reboot. My system took 23 minutes for the task to finish. I was very much worried during these 23 minutes realising I have made some mistake.
After reboot thanks God that the OS was working smoothly. I found two unallocated space in Minitool PW
Now I selected C drive and chose to extend and allocated the free space from one of the two unallocated space, agreeing to restart the computer. This time it hardly took 2 to 3 minutes for task to finish.
After the reboot I found the C drive volume as 99.5 GB and allocated the remaining space to drive letter E.
Thanks foryour advice and encouraging me to carryout the task. Thanks once again to everyone for their valuable advice.
