so bob; which of the 2 above do you think would be best for me? I am still thinking the 212 evo from cm; but; I am always open to other options as well.
I think the Hyper 212 Evo would give the best performance, but you'd probably have to remove or replace the 220 mm diameter fan in the side of the case to avoid a clearance issue.

The Arctic Freezer looks good, but I imagine that it would have less cooling capacity than the Hyper 212. (The 212 has a 120 mm fan, while the Arctic unit has a 92 mm one. That doesn't guarantee that the CM unit cool better than the Arctic one, but that's the way I'd bet.)

Sorry that I can't give you a yes/no recommendation. My most recent air cooler was a Noctua NH-D14:

Noctua.at - sound-optimised premium components "Designed in Austria"!

but with the fans replaced with PWM (variable speed) ones. (They now sell the NH-D15, which comes with PWM fans.) It's expensive, and huge.

Just to muddy the waters further, you could also consider a low-profile combination:

RAIJINTEK PALLAS BLACK, High-end Low profile cooler, 6pcs 6mm Heat-pipe, slim 14013 PWM Fan, Fully nickel plating, Copper base, Total 68mm heigth including fan, Supports Intel AMD modern CPU sockets - Newegg.com

Won't be as good as the 212, but it's very short. And it would look elegant in your case.

well; the worst that can happen is I can try getting the 212 and if there is a clearance issue; then I will go back to the store and look and see what ones might have a better fit. Frys electronics has a ton of different fans; so with that in mind I will have to look things over. Well I just checked and frys does not carry the pallas black fan but does have the cm 212.

You ought to be able to install it using the hole in the motherboard tray. (Doing it with the board out of the case would be easier.)

Most coolers that are upgrades over stock will need a backplate.

If you want an upgrade, and aren`t prepared to pay someone else to do the work, it may take some study, plus some effort.

Amazon.com: ARCTIC Freezer 7 Pro Rev 2 - 150 Watt Multicompatible Low Noise CPU Cooler for AMD and Intel Sockets: Computers Accessories

You don't have to remove the motherboard to install this.. I have it and it's great.

It must be a item I can get at frys electronics as that is the only store I will deal with. I am not going to pay for shipping. It also happens to be the fact that I have gift card to frys as well. Why pay more If I dont have to!. And it looks like frys does not have that exact one that you list bunny.

Its got nothing to do with paying someone else to do the work which i would never do anyways as when it comes to computer things for someone like myself who has been dealing with pc's since the early 90s; I can do things myself. I am not going to pay someone else if i can do it myself. Its also the fact that why should I have to take the dam board out just to install a fan!. Like i said that is a royal PITA!!!. Its also the fact that there is no way to install it using the holes on the board for the stock intel fan because there is nothing to hold the standoffs in place to keep them from coming loose. Again to do that according to the install guide i would have to take the entire board out which Im not about to do.

Try and see if they have the one i listed does not require you to remove the board at all. If you look at it on there website you will see how it installs and its easy.
