Brother printer. Win10 says it's turned off when it's not.

    Hi.
I have a Brother HL-L2375DW printer. It won't print from my desktop PC because according to the Windows 10 troubleshooter it's off - needs to be turned on.
However. it is turned on in as much as my iPad & laptop print to it no problem via Wi-Fi.
    Any suggestions?

You are talking about network printing and the printer being in sleeping mode and not starting to wake up and print? In that case, I had a similar issue with a Brother printer.
Solution was to install the printer as a TCP/IP printer, not using the standard WSD port.

What puzz;es me though is that it's obviously on the wi-fi network since the tablet & laptop can see it.

I've set the printer up so it's on wi-fi. To check that all is well I've printed to it from an iPad & a laptop via wifi - no problems. I've also set the printer so it doesnt go to sleep. However, when I attempt to print from the desktop PC it doesn't print.
If I run printer troubleshooter it reports that the printer is turned off.
I've tried restarting the printer spooling service to no avail.

My usual fix with printer problems is to uninstall / reinstall the printer driver and software. After uninstalling this software look in Printer Management and delete all relevant drivers and printers and drivers if any remain. Reboot before reinstalling the software.

I realise this of course. The reason I did that was because I wasn't sure whether the printer had actually 'woken up' or not since 'troubleshooter' keeps telling me the printer is turned off. If I manage to get it working I'll re-enable auto sleep.

That's my usual fix too. Unfortunately in this case it didn't work.

iPad & laptop: connection via router or via WiFi Direct? Is printer visible in router?

Printer & all other wifi devices appear in router (except for laptop! even though laptop is connected vi wifi)
Printer ip address in router matches that from printer report.

OK. I appear to have solved the problem but frustratingly I don't really know how.
    Thanks for your assistance
