    OK. Thanks, guys!

There was no manual that came with it. Yes, the correct 8-pin connector comes apart for a 4-pin that fits perfect.

I have it up and running! Finally!

This PSU is much more quiet. Not that I can hear much anyhow.

Hi guys. A little apprehensive about this system yet, although I woke up to it chugging away at tasks in my 8.1 side/partition, which is a relief to see it running upon return these days! After getting it up and running last night I installed a load of updates and went to bed to do it's thing. I'll manually shut the monitor and sound system off to do so.

As you may remember, I'm using a temporary monitor while attempting to get the other one fixed. Using it this morning the monitor blinks for a few seconds displaying "Entering sleep mode" which is normal when not getting a system signal (I see this during boot between BIOS screen and boot flag). The blinking is the display driver failing and recovering as seen below. It seems to happen when closing out an app and going to another screen or when changing IE pages. It's not a constant thing, but happens about every hour or so.

My concern is that I was getting these just before my original PSU went out. Would this have anything to do with an overheating or failing onboard display chipset by any chance? Using the different monitor? Any thoughts?

Try "Killing" all power saving modes first and use a program to monitor temps and voltages.

    Thanks, Count.

How do I "Kill" all power saving modes?

Would any changes in Advanced Power Settings help?

What's a good temp program to use? I looked in the store, not much there but a few pay ones.

All you need is to edit High performance plan to Never for both, "Display" and "Put the computer to sleep".

That error was the display driver (ATI/AMD/INTEL/NVIDIA) crashed and the system was able to restart the driver so there was no BSOD just a blank screen for a second or two. You usually get a message bottom right of the screen telling you this. Mine used to do it fairly often but the latest AMD driver sorted that out. Update your video driver to the latest version.

I had this same thing going on with my Lenovo lappy. Intel did some kind of auto-update for the video driver almost two weeks ago. It has not happened since.

Yes, that's the first thing I tried when I started getting them after I hooked up this monitor. Strange thing is that I didn't get them with the Acer monitor. The Philips monitor driver must affect the display driver. It dates back to 2006 which is XP days. The display's driver is 2012. I have no idea where the igfx comes from. It's a wonder the monitor works at all! I haven't a chance to look at the Acer monitor yet.

See if you can change (or if it even exists) state of EDID (Extended Display Identification Data) in GPU driver and set frequencies and res manually.

Thanks, Count, but the driver isn't that sophisticated. It seems to have worked it's way out for it hasn't blinked for about 4 hours now. On my 10 side anyway.
