    BTW have you ever seen device manager display the wrong drive? For whatever reason instead of showing my OS SSD as what it is it just shows it as another copy of my HDD.

    For checking existing drives some options are:

    a) Booting to the BIOS
    b) Device manager
    c) File explorer > this PC
    d) Disk manager

    Third party:
    a) HWinfo64
    Free Download HWiNFO Sofware | Installer & Portable for Windows, DOS
    b) Speccy
    Download Speccy | Find your computer specs, free!
    c) Crucial scanner
    Crucial System Scanner | Memory Upgrade Scanner | Crucial | Crucial.com

    I notice your drive is ADATA brand. I had two ADATA SSDs bad right out of the box. I ended up with a Toshiba instead and will never buy another ADATA SSD.

    Yeah i haven't decided on a brand for my next drive but it's probably going to be a different one for certain. I was considering getting a Crucial brand drive to replace this as an OS drive, while also keeping this one around to store unimportant things i don't mind losing too much. If it does eventually die soon, i should still be able to RMA.

    Do you know if there's a list of recommended brand/models of drive? I was considering a Crucial MX500
