    Warning Icon on Drives

Just noticed this today. There's a yellow warning icon on my installed PNY 408GB SSD (partitioned Local Disk/Dell Installs). This is a Windows 10 Home install so it's not a BitLocker issue. I'm also getting a warning from HD Sentinel, so maybe it's connected. Fresh install this weekend of 21H2 and everything else seems to be working correctly.

My install is Windows 10 Home, so no BitLocker.

Thank you for your reply and the clarification.

Now I note you have a green tick on another.

Do you have e.g. Norton or some backup or synchronising program installed?
If so, review the icons used.

Thank you for pointing out the "Green Check Mark" on the other drive (bangs head on desk!). That finally made me connect HD Sentinel to the issue. Quit HD Sentinel and the yellow warnings disappear, turn HD Sentinel on and they're back. So, the same warnings that are given when you open the main HD Sentinel are superimposed on File Explorer.

For what I see the drive life time is near (329 days).
How can a drive that has been on for only 266 days has written 32TB?
I would call PNY and claim for a replace

Of course.. should have realised. I just never use that view, and normally HDS isn't running..

This model is from 2016. the controller is phison 10 and the memory 2d planar toshiba tlc.
The pny dont give tbw but form a similar patriot burst, or toshiba q300 that uses same controller and memory, the tbw is 60.
For 32 tb writes the health percentage is as expected.
For todays standards 2d planar is very bad. You seems to write a lot of things. When it goes at 20% health you can consider seriously to change it.

TBW (Client endurance workload specified by JESD219A Solid-State Drive (SSD)
    Endurance Workloads):
    960GB: 240TB
    480GB: 120TB
    240GB: 60TB
    120GB: 30TB

@boombastik Thanks for the detailed explanation. I also received a reply from the developer of HD Sentinel which I will post below for those who may find the information useful. As for the "you seem to write a lot of things", yes I do, and here's why.

I retired a few years back and (I was one the lucky ones) loved my job. Spent almost 50 years in the electrical field and not a day went by that I didn't learn something new. That's what I missed the most. So, I decided to teach myself about computers, the Windows operating system and any and all software that I could find. Spent hours and hours on this forum each and every day. At the same time, Macrium Reflect became my friend. No matter how I may have messed things up, or that Windows update that just didn't go quite as planned, safety was a simple "restore" away. I wrote batch files for things I could just as easily do with a few mouse clicks, just for the satisfaction of seeing if I could do it. Learned a lot here and it satisfied that need to keep learning something new every day.

Here's the response from the developer:

Generally the Health of the memory cells is calculated and provided by the SSD firmware itself, it is not calculated by Hard Disk Sentinel.

The SSD firmware can use various factors to determine: the most important is yes, the total amount of written data - but there can be others too.

The "type" of the written data can be also important. Saving some large continuous files generally cause less wear on the memory cells - while frequent saving of high number of small files can cause much bigger overhead and faster degradation of the health.

If you use Report menu -> Send test report to developer option, I can check the actual values and this may give further thoughts.

Also you may check with the manufacturer: it is possible that they have a firmware update specifically for your model which can help, for example to optimize writes and make degradation slower.

If you have any questions or I can help, please let me know.

    Have a nice day,

32TB written in 266 days gives a total of 120G per day. How come?
