Pixel 4 phone is not being fully recognized by Win10

My Google Pixel 4 phone with Android 12 is partially recognised by Win 10.

The phone is listed as an attached USB device and correctly identified but nothing shows in "My Computer".

In the Device manager, the ACER ADB interface is listed as working correctly with the latest drivers.

I have installed Google's latest USB driver, but it was already present.

There are the usual "Bings" when the phone is connected/disconnected.

The phone's USB setting is "File transfer/Android Auto".

However, the "Other Devices" tab is absent from the Device Manager. I just want to transfer many photos and pictures to the PC.

    I hope someone can help.
    Many thanks, John.

Try manually telling the phone you have decided on file transfer - it might be prompting you on its screen when it connects [mine does]. It should then appear in File explorer.
[My Android 12 does not automatically set itself up for file transfer. I have to set it to File transfer/Android Auto every time I connect it by USB because it defaults to No file transfer.]

    That's a good thing.
Device Manager, Other devices is a euphemism for 'no drivers installed'.

Done that. There's just a "bing" but nothing displays in File Exploder.

Do I need a driver or something?

Try another cable. Not a charging cable, but a data cable compatible with USB 3.0. Otherwise, the file transfers will very slow.

Another option is to transfer the files via UFD (Flash Drive). To connect the UFD, use a USB-C to USB-3 adapter or cable, compatible with OTG. The UFD must be compatible with USB 3.0.

The cable is a USB3 data cable. The phone is recognised:

But doesn't show in My Computer:

Pixel 4 phone is not being fully recognized by Win10-pixel4-2.jpg

    [EDIT]
I have plugged the phone into my Win11 laptop using the same cable and there's no problem. I'll transfer the files I need via my home network. Anyone who can throw light on what is blocking the device from being displayed on Win10 is welcome.

When I connect a Samsung phone, the Properties window shows more information, including the driver:

Also, why "Acer"? Does the phone contain Acer hardware? If so, perhaps some Acer driver is needed.

I assume you've already tried right-clicking in a clear area of the right-hand side of File explorer & selecting Refresh.
The only similar experience I've had turned out to be a faulty cable but I cannot see that as being likely given that the phone prompted you for a decision when your USB cable was connected.
It's a long-shot but are you using Defender or a third-party utility such as Bitdefender? I once had Bitdefender decide not to trust a new bit of hardware yet not tell me about it; I was going round in circles for hours before disabling part of / uninstalling Bitdefender fixed the problem I was having.

    No, you've already got that.

Are there any Pixel forums that might help you?
Sorry I haven't been able to,

    John,

I've only just seen that bit. Compare the Device manager entries. There'll probably be several but I'd suggest the one in Device manager, Portable devices is the most relevant one.

I'll check that out - good idea.

I removed the phone as device, deleted the driver, rebooted and re-connected the phone. It ended up as before - same driver found and installed, phone showing in the Control Panel but absent from My Computer.

    Many thanks.

Even when my phone is in charging mode it shows up in Explorer. However, I can't see any files until the phone is in file transfer mode and the screen is unlocked,

I have a Samsung S21. These are the USB drivers I see in Device Manager.

Pixel 4 phone is not being fully recognized by Win10-usb1a.jpg

Pixel 4 phone is not being fully recognized by Win10-usb2a.jpg

Check for the USB drivers you have and see if Update Driver makes a difference.
