Based on U.S. Government website traffic, nearly 1 in 5 visitors who use PCs are still running Windows 7. It appears to still be running on at least 100 millions machines in the US. Windows 10 is going to stick even more with the HW restriction 11 imposes. Who is going to trash a good 4-5-6-7 gen machine for a pure windows 11 ?
I agree. I still use Win 7 on my 6 generation Intel desktop. I do have a SSD drive with Win 10 and Linux.
The OS is just a platform where you run the programs you like to work with.
Win 11 is similar to Win 10. You just need to learn (again) how to use.
    stuart253, stay with Win 10.

This really comes down to how bad "you" want Windows 11.

I'm running the RTM version Windows 11 Pro but then my hardware meets all the Windows 11 requirements. I also like the OS and have no plans on reverting back to Windows 10. That's me.

Anyway, you should visit the Windows Eleven forums for a more "balanced" opinion

    Good luck.

"Balanced opinions"?? - they all probably either have supported hardware or don't care about or don't understand the risk of not getting updates on unsupported hardware.

Instead of "assuming" you might actually read - unless you fear it'll prove "your opinion" wrong

Nothing to assume - it's a fact that unsupported hardware may not get updates in the future.

No opinions out there are going to change that fact - like it or not.

    Hello,

When I run the PC Health Check utility on both of my desktop and laptop they both raise the "The processor isn't currently supported for Windows 11" alert.

    My machines are:

Desktop: DELL XPS8900. Purchased in 2016

Laptop: DELL XPS15. Purchased in 2017

Is it possible and worth it to upgrade their processors or just purchase new machines?

    Thanks

    Stu
    Hi Stu,
Unsupported hardware is unsupported hardware. :)

W10 is officially supported until 2025. Do you have anything specific you need W11 for immediately?
