    Driver problem

    Guys

I have 2 GPS receivers - a Tomtom GPS MKII (wireless) and a Haicom -204III-USB working fine on Windows 7.

Neither work on Windows 10. I think , but can't be sure that the Tomtom wireless worked in Windows 8.1.

It's early days for W10 so I'm not sure if this is a Microsoft issue or a GPS device driver issue.

But it is extremely frustrating to spend 3-4 days trouble shooting with no solution - other forums are of no help whatsoever.

    try this

Well as youv'e still got W7, according to your specs, copy the drivers from 7 to a usb.
Then plug in your device, which should then appear in device manager, as Unknown, right click to properties, update drivers using the LET ME select option and install them in Compatability mode.

I can now confirm that the W7 and W10 driver file names are the same.

With the Prolific USD to serial device if I look in events information I see "required further installation"

If I try to open the Tomtom port I get "failed to open port"
