    Bluetooth stopped working

After searching the forum it seems like this is an old chestnut but most of the explanations go over my head. In my device folder, the bluetooth enumerater has a yellow error triangle that tells me the error code is 43. Have tried the simple fixes like 'sfc /scannow ' and 'DISM scan' but they didn't work. Tried uninstall and restart and it worked, re-populating the folder with what I thought were the relevant files, but after an overnight shutdown, It went back to code 43. In my ignorance I am reluctant to reset Windows but wondered if this may be necessary. If its a driver problem, where can I find the latest driver? The device is called a Generic Bluetooth Adapter which is, I assume, a built-in rather than a specific manufacturer.
Would be grateful for any instruction, preferably in step by step words of as few syllables as possible,:)

Had exactly this same issue today, but didn't turn out very well for me: there's likely a hardware fault on the Bluetooth component of the motherboard.

Try to look here to find some inspiration: Bluetooth stopped working (Device Descriptor Request Failed) Code 43

    done

After following this problem throughout the Forum and checking everybodies advice I suddenly find the problem cured. I just wish I knew what I did to get it right. My last action was to download a driver from the Windows Optional Updates. I can't believe that was the answer. Perhaps it was a loose connection , 'cos I've been thumping this keyboard in frustration. I'm glad its sorted so I can concentrate on another problem I have with my DVD...............and that my friends is the subject of another thread. See you soon.

Most Notebooks/Laptops have Bluetooth as part of the [replaceable] Wireless/Wi-Fi adapter and if that is turned off so is the Bluetooth. The Bluetooth can fail on it's own, to that end I use small USB Bluetooth dongles which have proved to be more reliable, this one in particular:
