3rd gen Thinkpad X1 Carbon doesn't acknowledge lid closing?

Third Generation Thinkpad X1 Carbon with i5-5300U, 1440p touchscreen, and Windows 10 Pro version 1909

I swear I installed the AHCPI drivers manually, but as it is when i close the lid the screen stays on as I can see the light leaking out the side. I have it set to go to sleep but no change. Is there anything else I can troubleshoot? thanks.

Hi, has this ever worked? Has it stopped working recently?

Can you get your laptop to sleep otherwise?

Just to confirm, is this is the setting you're referring to?

What happens if you change it to e.g. Shut down?

    - why would you need to do that?
Have you used a driver updater tool (not recommended)?

this was a clean install with a system that had the SSD removed.

it has not worked under Windows 10. Windows 7 wasn't on it long enough to check or notice

Could you methodically answer the questions please? Thank you.

Have you used the Lenovo System Update tool or the automatic driver update here?

(Hopefully that's the correct page, unfortunately posters almost never post the drivers page for their PC).
