    The $229.99 is the list price on their web site. https://www.evga.com/products/produc...220-G3-1000-X1 I don't know whether it is the same model as you bought in 2017; you'd have to compare part numbers. (New one is 220-G3-1000-X1.)

    Newegg sells it at the same price. (Actually, 1¢ cheaper. Reminds me of Walmart.)

    That is really weird. If I go to that same page you linked to at evga-dot-com, and click on the Amazon link from it, it takes me to this page, that lists it for $179.99 USD.
    Why such a discrepancy?

    Because $229 is the MSRP of what EVGA suggests selling the product for. Retailers like Amazon or Best Buy have the ability to reduce the prices if they wish. That's why people use Amazon so much, good prices and fast delivery.
