Hi,
Does Bios get automatically updated like Windows or do I have to do it manually? If so, how do I check if my Bios needs upgrading? I see the version/date, American Megatrend inc v10.7, 22.07.2014, but have no idea whether it is outdated or not.
I am running Windows 10 on a desktop.

BIOS is updated manually. And its not the same thing as a driver update. Do it incorrectly and you could render your motherboard useless. To see if it's up to date you look and see what the latest version offered by your motherboard manufacturer is. It will be specific to your make and model motherboard. You have to look at what it changes and or fixes, the change log, and then decide if you want to update it.
Just to reiterate what alphanumeric said.
Because of the potential pitfalls of updating (flashing) a BIOS, it is best to only update if something is not working correctly. Do it incorrectly and your system may become totally inoperable, thus becoming a rather large paperweight.
If you want to go ahead with investigating the procedure further, you should do thorough research first and post any questions on a tech site such as anandtech or hardforum etc.
Only proceed if you feel comfortable and assured with the required process.
