    Listen...,
    I haven't a clue what you're talking about anymore!!!

You've been running to and fro between 2 or 3 threads screaming and yelling in a huge panic about this minor issue!
Many users have given you sound advice, and some not so sound but with warnings; you haven't posted back about what you've tried or what results you encountered.

My advice is to drop the whole thing and wait for a new Build.
Mine icon usb now looks like blank paper not the device because I DELETED DEVICEINFORMATING.ICON and system restore dont fixed because still not appear after restore point yesterday. I deleted today, i creating yesterday restore point to go back. But driver icon doesnt back anymore!!!!!!!!!

    Hi Edwin -

Where is this menu? I'm on 1903.
    I must be missing something.

    TIA
You can also see it in the ribbon menu, here:
USB drives displaying weird icons (i believe in usb 3.0 ports only)-fdsfsdf.png

@jimbo45, open "Devices and printers" with the usb flash drive plugged in, then remove it and plug it again. It will probably get the icon. I say probably because sometimes it only affects some drives. Also, the problem isn't only the icon, it's the name and description windows is giving the drive. Try plugging several of them and then go to the bottom right corner, to the unmount icon, they will all say "Device" and you won't know which one is which unless you know the letter given to them.

So, deleting that cache folder (and reinstalling some affected devices) seems to fix the issue with the USB drive icon, at least temporarily.

But what about the fix for that "Device, Device, Device..." list in the "Unspecified" group of "Devices and Printers"? After the deletion of the aforementioned cache folder the "goofy box" icon in that list got replaced with "blank page" icon. But the list itself is still there.

Is there any solution for this problem?

I see that in my case each "Device" in that list corresponds to a USB hub connected to my machine. I have two icons there.

You should have waited for microsoft to fix the problem. I have no idea how to fix what you have done. Try doing a system restore to a day before you tried to fix it. And don't try to fix it anymore, microsoft will fix it sooner or later.

Hmmm... it seems to be working after 1909... if you played with C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\DeviceMetadataCache delete DeviceMetadataCache and delete temp files in Windows, it seems my USB flash drives DO work, on both machines, also autorun.inf DOES work... fingers crossed, knock wood, voodoo dolls, etc...cats and spiders.....
