Clicking, stuttering sound after upgrade to Windows 10 - High latency

    Hello!

At first everything seemed fine. Everything was working, I only needed to upgrade the VGA driver.
I have a xonar D1 card with uni-xonar which worked immediately.

Than when I listened to music I noticed clicking and stuttering which got really horrible after while.

Talked about it on hydrogenaudio: Clicking, stuttering after upgrade to Windows 10 - Hydrogenaudio Forums

I clean installed VGA, updated the LAN driver, re-installed xonar. Things improved but they still suck. Clicking is still a regular occurance.

I checked latency when LAN and the soundcard was disabled but latency still sucked:

Since I was using the very same hardware for years without these issues and I have doubts that several hardware or their drivers suddenly started misbehaving I'm guessing it might be an issue in win10 itself.

I attached the latest measurements. (screenshots and report) The worst values still belong to the same as the first time: VGA, soundcard, LAN, USB, ntoskernel

Don't know what else to do.

The latency-problem is usually caused by the latest Intel network driver. There are countless threads about this and easily google-able. There is no real help, Intel is promising to "look into it" for over a year now and still no fix.
I changed to Realtek NIC because of that - best €10 I ever bought for the computer, to have no problems.

Can't be the problem because I have a realtek network adapter on my motherboard.

My best guess is at this point that Microsoft screwed up the audio stack or the the API for the drivers which cause high latency.

Ah okay. My problem has always only been the Intel NIC. I actually have an external USB device, Focusrite Forte, for music, and it also has audio latency problems if I use the newest Intel NIC driver. There is an older one, I have it saved here, which doesn't cause the problem.

I think I ran out of anything I can think of. I even tried crappy driver updaters. The only thing I can conclude is that win10 sucks and microsoft really screwed up something.

Same issue here. Had DPC latency spikes and the corresponding video & audio stutter every 30 minutes or so since I first installed Windows 10. After two reinstalls and only installing the necessary software to play my audio files (that worked in Win7 and 8.1 without ever having this problem), and also updating my Realtek network drivers twice (last time today), the problem is still here.

I have no idea what Microsoft is doing. There are so many reports on this problem all over the internet, but they don’t seem to care.

30 minutes? How do you even notice that? :) Here it stuttered constantly when things got bad. Or do you mean it starts stuttering after 30 minutes?

Anyway my only solution was downgrading to 8.1. Just makes sure you keep the recovery files so you can downgrade to it, and downgrade while you can.

Well, when I listen to music for a couple of hours (my PC is my audio source), it’s quite easy to tell when stutter from DPC latency happens. I started taking notes of when these happened, and they are always 25-35 minutes apart from each other.

Yeah, I have a dual-boot with 10 and 8.1 now too, but, call me mad, I still have some hope that Microsoft fixes severe bugs / issues in their current product.

Roll back your Realtek nic driver to the Win10 upgrade version, then in your audio properties, disable enhancements. I messed with this for months, was the only way I found that works consistantly.

    Hi!

I don't know to whom you're addressing this comment, but I (thread starter) use an Asus Xonar D1, which I mentioned.

On a different note: Was there seriously no improvement in this regard in the past half year since W10 came out...
