How to create a slide show on Windows 10

I want to use my laptop to show photos at an open day. I would like them to run on a loop, as the open day will last about four hours. Any help would be much appreciated

Personally I'd use one of the well-known free desktop programs like this:

    Hi Dalchina

Thanks for your reply, but to be honest I do not understand what you are suggesting.

Really not sure what you mean by "Your best friend should probably be a search engine or a disk imaging program"

I am really a novice with regards to computers and finding Windows 10 to be not very user friendly. Do you mean that it is not possible to do what I want to do with Windows 10, and that I need something not included with Windows 10?

If so if there something you could recommend

    Thanks again for your help

Hello thistlebarrow, and welcome to Ten Forums. :)

You might see if using OPTION TWO below to play a slide show of pictures in a folder may work for you.

For decades people have downloaded and used programs written by others. Here it is as simply as I can say it.
    Go here:
    Download FastStone Image Viewer 5.8 - FileHippo.com
Press the BIG GREEN BUTTON and download the program.
Install it - start by double left clicking on the file you have downloaded and following the instructions.
Run it by clicking on its start menu shortcut, or the one one your desktop if you chose to put one there during the installation.

Use it to create your slideshow. (Click 'Create', click 'Slideshow' and 'Add' your photos.

It's free, with good controls for your slideshow so you can easily set how long each picture is shown, and how one changes to the next one.

I'm sorry, I assumed you might be familiar with downloading and installing programs.

Yes, you can use Win 10 which will let you create a very simple slideshow- so if that's adequate.. great.

"Your best friend should probably be a search engine or a disk imaging program"
    - if you don't know or understand-- you can search to find more.
    - using a disk imaging program means you can recover your PC to a previously working state when things go wrong, quickly and usually without technical help - even if you have to buy a new disk.

Thanks very much for your suggestions.

I downloaded Faststone Image Viewer but couldn't find it when it had finished. Did it again, still can't find it! All too complicated for me I fear.

I have managed to change the screen saver to a photo display, but the fastest they will change is one minute. This is fine, but I would prefer to change every 20 or 30 seconds. Is this possible?

I appreciate that I must sound very dim to those of you who are obviously so knowledgeable about Windows 10, and I appreciate you taking the trouble to help

You could set the screen saver to change faster if you like from the older control panel settings below.
