Safe sites to download better icons than what came with Win 10 upgrade

    Hi All !
I'm a transplant from your "Eight Forum" & I'm almost used to the upgrade to Win 10.
What I can't tolerate are the Desktop icons I'm able to find when using the 'Customize' tab.
I learned how to use a PC when it was built to be fun, back in the good old days of XP, when you could change almost everything imaginable, so the cold, drab icons provided in this 'all work-no play' OS aren't enough for me.
Will you please tell me safe sites for me to get new icons, (where I won't get garbage included in the download with the icons ), so I can make the changes I want?
I'd also like to learn how to change the Desktop Font. The only Font settings I could find were to "allow fonts to be installed" & whether or not to "hide fonts depending on language". If there's a way to change the Desktop font & especially a way to eliminate the annoying shadow, please supply very detailed information so I can change that, too.

Thanks in advance for your help.
    All the Best,
    DogPal

Icon changer by Anolis- but the amended imageres.dll has to be copied into system32 folder via command prompt from boot.

If you look thru Customisation you will see other approaches people have taken.

If you go to Winaero - Free small and useful software for Windows they do ' WinAero tweaker ' which has been upgraded for Win10. You can set your own fonts for Windows title bars, Message box Icons, Status bar, and the System font among other things.
A good small programme to change drive icons is ' My Drive Icon ' Change Windows 7 Drive Icons Quickly With My Drive Icon It says it's for win 7 but I've used it in 7, 8, 8.1, and it works perfectly in the latest Win10 release. [You have to run it as admin. or you will get an error]

    Hi dalchina & brotherboard!
Many thanks for the tips...I really appreciate your help.
Oh, & thanks a bunch for not poking fun at my need to get nicer icons than what's been provided. I'm glad I'm not alone!
    Many thanks

Please note though that if you make multiple changes in different ways, you need to keep a record of these. Why?

    They will be overwritten
    - if you need to run sfc /scannow
    - if you do an in-place upgrade repair install
    - on each new major build

    Keep it simple! (acronym KISS)
