    Slide Show Screen Saver Error

I've been using the Slide Show Screen Saver for a while now but recently a problem cropped up. The slide show would run for about 5 minutes or so but then it would freeze on a picture for a bit and then the screen would go black with a "An error has stopped the slide show from playing" message. What's wrong and how can I fix it?

Are there any other details on that error?
Check in the event log for application errors. There should be a note of that error somewhere.
It is possible that some new image in your folder, that it's not recognized properly... or too big, is causing all the trouble.

I've looked up the event log in the Event Viewer and the problem history in Maintenance. This is the error reports I'm getting:

The program PhotoScreensaver.scr version 10.0.10586.0 stopped interacting with Windows and was closed. To see if more information about the problem is available, check the problem history in the Security and Maintenance control panel.

I don't understand much if that either.

Try to see if you can modify the screensaver settings:
How To Open Screen Saver Settings In Windows 10

In previous Windows versions there is a troubleshooting for photo screensavers, recommended to check:
    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2425702

You'll need to check the photos folder, cleanup items/shortcuts.
Move some of the pictures to another folder temporarily and try launching the screensaver again.

Also try sending an error report and search for solutions:
Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Security and Maintenance\Problem Reports

The Hang Type: 134217728 can be related to input devices; keyboard mouse, touchpads... try reconnecting some of those.

With all above noted, I'm out of ideas.

    Good luck.

    Thx for the suggestions.

I've tried using the screen saver with a folder with less pictures and it seems to run fine for now. Thanks anyways.
