I am SO over Windows Reshuffling my Desktop Icons

So the only way I could ever get Windows 10 to stop play roulette when I put the PC to sleep, signed off, or someone else signed in was by setting the scaling factor to the recommended setting in all accounts and not messing with anything else. Well that doesn't work with a 4K 3840x2160 display -- everything is way to small.

How can I get Windows 10 to stop messing with the arrangement of my desktop icons?

Hello, there's a huge thread on this on the forum which should help- this has been discussed many times.
Desktop icons keep rearranging - Page 10 - Windows 10 Forums

Please use the search box above: e.g.
    desktop icons rearrange
    desktop icons move
    desktop icons rearranging

Not a new issue in Win 10, but seems to be bothering more people than previous Windows editions.

In the old days, there were utilities that would "lock in" and some even "saved" the desktop of Windows 3.1 - WFW 3.11. I do not know how to find a reliable working utilities for Windows 10 ['cause I don't use W10, cannot test]. Perhaps, there is something out there.

I'm glad you provided a great solution -- those 3rd party utilities don't always deliver what's promised :)

I reviewed this thread (and the others both here and on multiple forums) but there is no definitive, clear cut, straightforward solution, which is why I asked the question again. I asked a simple question and was hoping for a simple answer, not a point to a convoluted history of threads, answers, and many solutions that do not work.

If the answer is that there is no solution, that is an answer.

    Thank you.

Hint: You might also try changing the view to large icons on your 4k monitor

    Change Sortby menu pick

You did not trouble to explain that in your first post so you have no right to criticise my response in that sort of manner. Sorry, I can't read your mind.

Many people post without looking to see what had been said. Your first post gave no evidence you had, so what did you expect?

dalchina, +1 about your solution set. In my experience, quite often, a simple question does not lead to a simple solution. For example: How do I backup my computer? Simple question. The answer, if desiring a successful long-term answer, will take much more than a simple one line sentence.

What more can I explain from my initial post (below)? Further, if you had read the many threads you reference (and some others as I have) you will note that I commented in several posts that keeping the display scaling to the recommended settings across all account profiles stopped the rearrangement of icons. And my recent question referenced a 4K display setting.

So I ask again. If you don't want to answer with a succinct solution or a link to a specific solution (rather than the multitude of rambling options that don't work), then please don't reply. Thank you.

UPDATE: Unckecking the Align to Grid option in the desktop View options seems to have stopped the re-arrangment. Thanks again for all of your help.
