Did you switch to the local account, no need for a password there.

Now, if a person, visiting my house, didn't know it was actually Windows 10, they would probably think they were looking at my Windows XP screen.
It would be even more XP-like if you had a Quick Launch Bar in the left half of your Task Bar....

Love that picture, by the way.

Well, the login thing was just one PITA, with only a Pacific Time Zone and NO Sound it was time for a reinstall.

So I did a clean, fresh install of Windows 10, 9926 to another spare hard drive. This time I found the way to get through the install without having to put in a password, and when the install was done I had all the regular time zones, and my sound was back.
Now W-10 boots right to my desktop and all's well with the world.

I still can't get Windows Mail working, but maybe someday I will.

Cheers Mates and Happy Beta Testing,

I know a guy who knows a bit about Windows Mail
Windows Mail - Windows 7 Help Forums

He strongly recommends that you find a supported mail client. He'll help you adjust to Windows Essential mail (WEmail)if you ask him.
He's helped other members who resisted WEmail because it does present a slight learning curve.

The other choice you have is the Modern mail app.

Believe it or not, under the covers both WEmail and the Modern Mail app are based on outlook express - it's just the GUI that's different (neither use the oe DB though).. Have you ever driven someone else's car? Can't quite figure out where the right control is - same thing with mail programs. After using one for a while, it all seems natural. Then you get back in your car and can't turn on the wipers

Don't ask me to help with WinMail on Win10 - I didn't help when people asked about Win8. WinMail isn't supported, it hasn't been for a long time. It's a hack to reinstate it. You can try it on your own, just don't ask me to help because I'll say no.

Let me know if you'd like some help with either WEmail or the Modern Mail app though, I'd be glad to help. If your main system in Win8 - it would be better to open a thread over on EightForums, or if your main system is Win7, same thing, open a thread over on SevenForums. It just makes it easier for me to know which forum I'm working on.

    Thanks,

    Bill

I am not a Stardock fan, albeit for nine dollars (U.S.) you could get WndowBlinds thus giving you whatever look you desire. . .I know it is third party, but when you want something you sometimes need to go where what you want can be found. . .. . .oh a btw, they have a thirty day trail period.

I'm a WB fan myself, but I don't believe that Stardock officially supports Windows 10 (yet). I tried an older version of WB on Win10 and it crashed. When I notified Stardock about it, using their forums, they told me that they don't support Win10.

If you DO install it, I think the version that works (now) is 8.09-beta.

Haven't tested it on this build as of yet, albeit it worked on all the previous builds. . .have fun go crazy with it. . .
