    Fixing appearance. Working person style.

I have have Googled this extensively but the instructions don't work. Only for older builds?

Here's what I need to achieve:

    --- Active Window ---
    blue title bar
    white title bar text
    4px light gray border

    --- Inactive Window ---
    dark gray title bar
    light gray title bar text
    4px light gray border

The instructions I found, for example, AccentColorInactive key in HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\DWM doesn't do anything on my machine. No matter what value is assigned there is no difference in title bar color between active and inactive. Tried logging out, rebooting, nothing.

Can someone help me get the above appearance?

I need to sort this out before I migrate all my machines to Windows 10... If I migrate at all that is.

Perhaps there might be a tool at winaero dot com that can do most of what you want/need. I'm not sure about the 4px gray border. The rest can be played with, as I have done to bring my desktop to Windows 7 look and feel. Specifically, winaerotweaker and ppanel10.

I do have Winaero Tweaker... I have just updated it.

Here's the wild part: it does not reproduce the same effect as in the screenshots. My inactive title bar does not change color, but borders become a more faint color while the title bar retains the old color. Neither matches the screenshots.
It's got this weird mismatched colors look on inactive - doesn't look like the screenshots.

A picture is worth a thousand words they say...

As you can see the inactive title bar color (registry says gray) is not working and title bar is mismatched to the inactive border color (which is not one of my colors). Something isn't working right.

What could be causing this? I created another user account, still same problem.
