OK i give up, WHAT IS THE SCREEN CALLED WHEN I TURN ON MY LAPTOP?

Google, Yahoo does not know cause with a search, they only know about a START or BACKGROUND SCREEN.

THE screen I want to customize is the one on POWER UP, asks for a PW.......
So I can FREEZE is as I LOVE the one it finally shows me now and but it keep changing.

That screen is called the login screen or lock screen. To change it to something permanently go into Settings, Personalisation, Lock Screen. There should be a drop-down menu there that will allow you to choose a picture, choose the one you want after the pictures load and you'll be able to keep it as the one you like.

THANK YOU, did not reason, a LOCK SCREEN would refer to the logon screen as could have been background...........

NOW o you know how to take a downloaded THEME can be selected, JUS ONE AND FREEZE it when the only option is a pull down with ONLY a time period, no "none"

    Background has

    SLIDE SHOW
    SOLID

NO other option to SHOW one of them and freeze it,

    Win 7.

You need to save the picture before it changes again.

Once you have saved it you change the lock screen to always show the picture you have saved.

This is inaccurate. The first screen you have to click is called the lockscreen. The second screen is the login screen.

It is possible to disable the lockscreen, so pc boots to the login screen as it's first screen.

    In SETTINGS folder is empty,
but found WINDOWS SETTING > LOCK SCREEN> pull down is: BACKGROUND (named) and has:
    WINDOWS SPOTLIGHT
    PICTURES
    SLIDESHOW

but my LOGON SCREEN IS only displayed under WINDOWS SPOTLIGHT

PICTURE SHOWS 4 STOCK PICS AND IS NOT ONE I HAVE NOW OR WANT TO SAVE

    You toally lost me.

Win 7 it was very easy to remove pics from a THEME.

Why did Win 10 NOT wanting us to do this as they made it HARD, EVEN HACKING the Registry?

So, is no easy way like Win 7, except to go back to 7 and hope something happens like a minor revolt before 2020?

Yes indeed. As I said in post #4 you need to save the spotlight picture and then you can set it as the picture you want to display by browsing to wherever you saved it. There are links to tutorials showing how to do both steps in post #4.

If you don't save the picture it will eventually be replaced by some other random picture.

    Best of luck :)
