Lock Screen Slideshow won't activate as scheduled

I'm coming from Win7 and I loved the new Lock Screen Slideshow feature, especially when it starts combining pictures to fill your whole screen in a collage!
Sadly, the only way I've been able to view this screen is when I activate it myself (win-key+L). On top of that, I was planning to use this screen as an automatic screensaver after a set amount of time has lapsed.

Also, since it never activates on its own and my display is set to turn off after the Lock Screen slideshow has played for 30 min, my display stays on indefinitely. Changing the power settings in Control Panel for my display (turn off after x minutes) makes no difference to this behavior.

Any ideas? It seems nobody else is having this problem according to Google.

Another, less-annoying problem I'm having is the first picture in the slideshow is always the same sample picture that came with windows. Anyone experience that? If you delete the sample picture the first frame in the slide is just black instead.

    slideshow only on 1 monitor

Similar issue - upgrade from win 7 pro to win 10 pro. In win 7 lockscreen slideshow used both monitors. Under win 10 it only shows on the primary (the one with the taskbar).
    Any ideas?
