No Screensaver after 10 update

I have widely researched this problem and there seems to be a common thread involving HID compliant devices. However, my issue is relevant for only 1 out of 4 users of the pc where the screensaver defaults to 1 minute and will not work following shutdown. I cannot understand why this is not a problem for the other 3 users. The registry entry for screensavertimeout remains at 180 seconds even when the time setting via personalisation is showing 1 minute. This error only happened after the change from Windows 8.1 to 10. I have no lock screen set but this is for all users so should not be relevant.

I have narrowed my problem down to a Kensington pockethub 7 port universal hub. Once I disconnected it I now have a Screensaver and my monitors turn off like they should. I am thinking that a newer hub may be the fix for me?

THNX! this did it for me too. I have an (old) sweex USBhub. When I disconnected it the issue seems resolved.

I have installed the Saitek Windows 10 beta drivers for my X52 pro and the problem still exists i.e. no auto lock screen or auto monitor standby. Lends weight to it being Windows 10 bug and not a driver issue.

How do we know if MS is aware and have plans to fix?

Is there any way to fix this? I'm planning to upgrade to Windows 10 tomorrow.

In my case, the screensaver seems to last for 24-26 hours and then reverts back to 1 minute....
So far, all the suggestions here have proved useless for my desktop. Each morning I check the screensaver...but that's because I like my screensaver. Annoying yes. Major...no.

HERE IS THE FIX...I asked the same question a week ago. Got this answer and it solved the screensaver problems- "Fast start up" is to blame for this.
If you turn it off then any screen saver settings will remain.

Thank you, Deb1262. This work for me. I had been trying so many different things and none would work. I initially had 6 computers and managed to get most of them working with various fixes mentioned throughout this thread but one computer did not work with any fix until this "Fast start up". I just disabled it and it is working fine now. Thanks millions.

This has worked for me too! Ah-mazing. I've gone for 72 hours without it reverting back to 1 minute. Thanks DEB1262. I think you should mark this thread SOLVED!

This is a bug which Microsoft will either address or not. At the moment, every morning I check the lock screen to see what the screen saver registers. Some days it's unchanged; some days it's back to 1 minute. I have no clue why. It's no big deal in the scheme of things.

I'd like to suggest another option that seems to work for me and I'd like some feedback as to whether it work for others. Here's what I did:

Start/Search and type gpedit.msc, Right click the gpedit results and Run As Administrator. In the Elevated Group Policy Editor, on the Left Panel, go to User Configuration/Administrative Templates/Control Panel/Personalization/Enable Screen Saver and enable the Policy. Once you have enabled that policy, go down and also enable Screen Saver Timeout. Note that in the Screen Saver Timeout policy there's an option to set the number of second for the timeout with the default being 900 seconds or 15 minutes.
Once you've enabled both policies and set the timeout if different from the default, exit the group policy editor. If you now go the screen saver settings in Control Panel you will notice that the wait period will match the minutes you entered in the group policy editor but it will be grayed out preventing you from changing the value unless you go back into the group policy editor and change it there.
Many were complaining that the wait value reverts to 1 and that is why they turned off fast booting but I have fast booting turned on and with the group policy changes I made my wait time is no longer reverting to 1 minute and remains at 15 minutes.

Will someone please give this a try to see of this solves the problem of the wait time reverting to 1 if you have fast booting turned on? If it doesn't work all you need to go is go back into the group policy editor and set both policies to "Not Configured".

Tried the gpedit ... didn't work for more than 26 hours....however....

Turning off the fast startup solution (above) worked a charm. My screensaver has been going for 10 days now -- ever since I turned off fast startup.
