how to set taskbar to auto-hide in tablet mode?

Hi! I'm finding the taskbar to be useful in desktop mode (where I tend to be using more apps), but to be a waste of space in tablet mode (where I want a full-screen experience). Is there any way to set the taskbar to auto-hide only in tablet mode?

    Thanks!

I'm also looking for the same functionality.

So far, all searches yielded negative for this functionality; thus, I can't believe that they did this to us!!! To me, the beauty of the MUI apps was the usage of the full screen real estate. Now, you switch to Tablet mode and you get the stupid Taskbar area.

Yes, I know the MUI apps still have the option to maximize to full-screen, but this--as far as I have been able to test an confirm--is done at an app by app level.

All that is needed is a new option for the Tablet Mode settings: Auto-hide Taskbar?

But if I were to really thoughtfully implement this, I'd duplicate the Desktop settings for the Taskbar fpr Tablet mode. Therefore, in Tablet mode, you could choose the location, etc.

I can't help but believe the auto-hide feature must be coming in an update because I can't believe MS can be so stupid and blind as to not see this requirement.

I don't know when Microsoft will fix it, but there's a new app that will let you configure auto-hide for tablet mode and desktop mode in Windows 10. Nibbler Apps, you can download a free trial there.

Nice! Thanks, that looks perfect. I'll give it a try.

I wrote a little application to auto-hide the taskbar on my tablets and would like to share it with anyone looking for something similar. In particular, I want the taskbar to hide in landscape mode where vertical space is precious, but not in portrait mode where there is plenty of vertical space.

    Features of the application:

    • Auto-hide taskbar can be turned on or off independently for each combination of tablet mode and screen orientation.
    • Install for all users.
    • Free and open source.

The application can be downloaded here:

it doesn't work for me, it gives an error in all my computers.

As for the Nibbler app it works ok but it still won't hide the taskbar from the start menu when in tablet mode, only when you open up an app or any other program (which is cool but not perfect)

Would you mind letting me know what the error message is? Without knowing the details, my first guess would be the installer is not downloading the dependencies automatically.

Definitely a dependency issue. I have recompiled the installer which hopefully would have resolved the issue. If not, you can also download the Visual C++ 2015 redistributable directly from Microsoft's website:
Download Visual C++ Redistributable for Visual Studio 2015 from Official Microsoft Download Center
