    Good cooking advice

I would like to pass on some good cooking advice for all the members. I suppose that in your kitchen most of you have some sort of a rack where you put your spices and most of you put them in alphabetical order as keeping them sorted this way seems to make sense doesn't it. Well, not necessarily. You see the problem with that is the fact the both cinnamon and cayenne pepper both start with the letter "C". Before I go on I hope that you do not assume what I may or may not have done. But let's say that you are making a nice sweet dessert and when you are nearly finished you grab the cayenne instead of the cinnamon. That would make the sweet dessert that you made for your family taste funny--really funny. Again--since I've been a member here since windows 7, I believe that you will give me the benefit of the doubt and not assume that I made some stupid mistake. This is simply airheads-up that I want to pass on. Sincerely, Frank

That would work really well here in south Louisiana as that is one of our main ingredients. LOL

Then don't put them in alphabetical order, that way you will be forced to read the label and grab the right one. :)

    EDIT:

I just checked how my wife does it. Cinnamon starts with a "G" for "Ground Cinnamon". Complete with best before date. :)

My method is seek and ye shall find. In my cabinet you have to search for what you want.

Another good suggestion is to make sure the caps are on tight. One time when I was eating out I was going to add a little salt to my soup. The cap was loose and my soup got well salted. The waitress did bring me another cup of soup. :)

No problem with mixing labels for me. Since I have GERD spices like Cayenne pepper are not part of my spice rack.
