You can probably disable google play books, games, movies and newsstand, unless you want to buy some stuff from them. Play music has some good free content though. Up to you. Just remember when you disable something it doesn't go away. So you want to clear the data too.

Pick app

Press storage.

Clear data.

Night TC.

It deletes updates and frees up space. Also keeps it from phoning home. Yes if you ever want to use it just re-enable it. It'll re-download the updates.
