They only use the brakes sparingly. Right at the entrance to Pit Road, they slam them on and smoke the tires. Just to avoid the speeding penalty! Then lock 'em up as they slide into their pit, somewhat straight. Some are better at it than others.....

Race cars I understand. Don't follow any really, not like back in the day when it was Mario Andretti, Al Unser, Cale Yarborough, Richard Petty, Bobby Allison, etc.
