    Last week something new was added to my online shopping experience and I'd appreciate some guidance.

    I made an online purchase and it went well until . . . I went to checkout and was shanghaied by pp (paypal). 20years ago I had a problem with pp, 'nuff said.
    I was still on the vendors site but was made to believe real or not, that the purchase went through pp, since then pp has sent me emails to create 'my' account.

    The 1st said:

    The 2nd said:
    You sent a payment of $$.$$ USD to vendor
    View or Manage Payment
    It had the purchase particulars and had the last 4digits of my card listed.

    The 3rd had some nonsense about "auto login"

    The 4th today has me confused especially #'s 01 and 02 below. . .
    Finish setup for speedy checkouts.
    Thanks for joining PayPal. Once you get your account all set up, you can shop securely. In a few steps, you’ll be on your way to quick and easy checkouts.

    Set Up Account Just take these three simple steps
    01
    Confirm your mobile number. That way we know it’s you.
    02
    Add a card or bank account.

    03
    Download the PayPal app. And manage your money on the go.
    ~~~ ~~~~ ~~~
    For 01 I never entered a phone number let alone a cell #.
    For 02 According to email #2 they already had my particulars and card #'s. So what's this about adding a card or bank account?
    Fat chance for 03 happening.
    My question(s)
    • Find the contact us email and give 'em what for.
    • Should I create the account and then plead with them to delete it and remove any info they have on me? That's how it ended up 20years ago.
    • or
    • Ignore and unsubscribe to any future emails?
    I've never had any issues with PayPal in my 20 years with them. Not even when I needed them to resolve a disputed charge.
    That said, I understand nothing is perfect, and why I pay more attention to consistency rather than anomalies. That's me.
    Thx sygnus.
    I also pay attention to consistency, its when anomalies pop up like this paypal thing that get me.
    I've had Vz fios for 15years and every month that I pay the bill the web site changes so I know I have to be careful what I click on, Vz wireless has been rock solid in that time.
    Ah . . . You ask, why not go with auto-pay? I don't b/c of breaches in security. Yes I could save 5bucks a month ($60/year) WOW! while I'm payin' over $2k a year for shoddy service.
    i.e. The beginning of this year I decided to go auto-pay with my health care provider guess what, When I went to check on an EOB I had there was a notice that they were hacked in Dec. of last year.
    I'm gonna try the contact us approach to see what's up.
    See next.
    Nope, never been a fan of WiFi my rig is totally hardwired. I have to admit this BT works well so far.
    Sorry I'm old school I made it a point to have a new MB with only Ethernet.
    I'm old school to. I am still leery of wifi but work with it although, when payin' the bills I use my dsktp that's hardwired.
    I kept getting bounced off my wifi and figured it was the next-door neighbor; him, his wife an four kids. When they moved out in January that stopped.
    What did you relace with those Samsung 980 SSDs ? It was a poor choice for system drives. It's probably worst Samsung ever. Much different from Pro version, Much better choice would be 970 Evo plus.
    @CountMike When I started building my new system around XMAS I installed 2 brand new Samsung 870 EVO 250GB SATA 2.5" Internal SSD Hard Drive (MZ-77E250B/AM) [Canada Version] SSD's then decided to upgrade to M.2 Drives as my new Mobo came with a free brand new perfectly usable ROG Hyper M.2 card that allowed me to still dual boot Windows 11 x 2
    Also the M.2 drives are much faster than 2.5" SSDs and I can reuse the 2.5" SSDs in an external enclosure for Steam games extra storage etc.
    Samsung 980 (non pro), although faster than SATA, 2.5" SSDs, are still poor choice for system drives mostly because they don't have built in RAM cache which is of great help with small system files.
    Well I didn't know about the RAM cache detail or realize the benefits of it when I chose the 980 drive but still plenty fast for my needs.
    Just saying, your system 2 can use NVME gen4 SSD which is more than twice as fast,
