The classical music thread

On the forums there are always many threads for the popular noise makers. I like to start this music thread and hopefully some of you will like the samples. Please add your favorites.

1) Piano Concert Nr.3 from Rachmaninov played by Olga Kern, a pretty Russian girl. Conductor is van Cliburn who himself is a famous piano player. They named streets after him in California. I was lucky to see him perform at the San Francisco Opera - long time ago.

2) A concert for the Pope - 1 set from "The New World" of Dvorak

Thanks for posting Edwin. The Pastorale is my favorite in the Beethoven repertoire.

Some people suggest that Mozart was the greatest composer - and maybe he was. But I cannot get too excited about his music.

I like Bach, Vivaldi, Rachmaninov, Debussie, Tchaikovsky, Dvorak and a few others. I like all music - especially some folk music like that of Roumania.

One of my favorite Baroque Ensembles - "The English Concert" (authentic period instruments) under the direction of Trevor Pinnock.

Very nice. I have attended a couple of concerts of small Vivaldi groups in Venice. The concerts were given in a couple of old churches. Very serene and authentic.

Not quite classic but interesting anyhow. The instrument is a cimbalom.

That lady is quite something.
