That is a shame about Natalie Cole. Likely Eric Jackson will feature her on his show tonight on WGBH Radio
The show is streamed and also podcasts can be played at later dates.
Eric is the real deal when it comes to jazz. He played jazz and fusion tunes when he was a DJ on the legendary WBCN back in the day when it was the Boston FM station "the heads" listened to. Often he plays jazz tunes from his own extensive vinyl collection. Also he has interviewed many noted jazz musicians when they arrived in Boston. I would not be surprised if there was a Natalie Cole podcast somewhere in the show's archives.
Everything changes. I think WBCN is a sports station now. It used to be the only station we listened to on FM unless in the mood for classical music. AM station would play the 2:14 versions of songs where BCN would play the 20m minute live tracks. Unless we were at a music concert that station was on. In any case Eric is one of those guys who doesn't care about making money if he can play jazz on the radio. Also his show was associated with Berlee Performance Center. Often he would interview the jazz group or leader the day before the first show, then you would see him at the rehearsals behind the building etc..
He has excellent taste. I used to record jazz from Eric in the Evening when all I owned was a boom box cassette recorder. :)
Edit: sorry for typos. WiFi-ing outside in the glare. Too tough to edit them all.
My grandparents had just about all of Natalie's fathers albums(some 78rpm's too). So it was interesting when, I think, it was VIVA or MTV played a video with her singing(virtually) with her farther.
