    Mayo Biscuits

6 cups of self rising flour
2 heaping serving spoons of mayo
1 tablespoon of vodka...makes them rise nice and fluffy

Add milk until dough consistently...mix together

roll out using rolling pin and cut with biscuit cutter or make cat heads

    Bake at 400 degrees f

take out when tops are golden brown

makes one full baking sheet of biscuits
I think I will have a go at making these, they sound like a savoury version of our English scone.

May I ask vger is there any reason you prefer to use vodka rather than milk or is that how you always make them?

I made snickerdoodles yesterday which are similar to an english scone but what your probably classify as a biscuit.
Here is a turorial for you to have a look at Snickerdoodles.
They are made with nutmeg, cinnamon and nuts and are a lovely treat especially with a pot of tea.

I'm more of a sweet baker than savoury but I want to try out more savoury bakes.

.. you have pointed out i forgot a part of the recipe... The vodka helps make the biscuits more fluffy.. but you still use milk..

    Aha.....

Ok another question...are you cups sizes about this big..

    Recipe Thread..-williams-sonoma-3-.jpg

I bought these cups at Williams-Sonoma when we were in Florida last year so I'm just trying to work out if that would be roughly the size of your cups? I put an apple in it to give you an idea of size.

    Btw what are cat heads?

That looks to be about 2 cups... Our cups ,,,to put an apple in it the apple would have to be small...Regional term...cat heads are hand formed biscuits or spoon biscuits....it has these little spikes on it after they bake...

I thought that sounded a lot of flour, I will modify your recipe to half the cup amounts and then see what they turn out like. Thanks for explaining what cat heads were, I have never heard of them. :)

My Wife makes this, it's called Pizza Salad, it's tasty & since there's no mayo in it to go bad, it's great to bring to a pick-nick. It gets better in the fridge overnight because the flavoring ingredients soak in. You can add more/less of anything you want to make it taste to your preference.

1 box Barilla tricolor rotelle Pasta
2 Cups grated Parmesan (fresh is best)
1 small block of Gruyere cheese - grated (or substitute w/ a sharp white cheddar)
1 Can Large Black Olives (sliced)
1 pkg of sliced Pepperoni (cut into quarters)
    1 sm Red Onion
    2-3 Tomatoes - diced
1/2 head of Iceburg lettuce & 1/2 head of Red Romaine lettuce - torn into pieces (or your favorite lettuce)
Lowrey's Seasoning salt - to taste

Mix the next Ingredients in a Quart Jar w/lid

Pizza Seasoning or a spicy Italian herb mix w/red pepper flakes
1/2 C of Cider Vinegar (I mix some Balsamic Vinegar in)
1/2 Cup Canola Oil (I also mix in some lite Olive Oil)

Place first 6 ingredients in a large container, Toss gently to incorporate. Add lettuce & tomatoes & the oil & vinegar mixture evenly over the top & gently toss

Now this sounds good.. I've got to try it out.
