George Boole's 200th anniversary

Hello!

Today is George Boole's 200th anniversary. He was the man discovering the Boolean Algebra (binary arithmetic and logical calculations) and created the basis for the contemporary digital computers. He is considered the father of Informatics. Before then computers were analog and performed simple calculations like a typical pocket calculator. After going digital they could gradually grow more advanced and complicated until we reached at the high technology of today and still progressing.

Didn't know they had computers 200 years ago.

No they didn't! George Boole was a mathematician that was talking about true/false logical operations (on/off, 0/1). Later some other fellows took his theories and used in the first Computers to calculate data and for decision making. As far as I know, the first computers where built in WWII, in the 40's. In the 60's you could pay per hour to use the University mainframe computer. In late 70's and 80's you could at last buy an affordable computer for the home, hence the name Home Computer for the 8-bit systems of the era.
