Will television take over as computers?

Will television take over as computers once smaller tv's have wifi? You will be able to hook up modems, routers, & printers and other devices that have wifi. I will be able to set in my recliner and uses the internet when needed and print out receipts if needed. Computers=Business TVs=Consumers. It would be fun trying to order internet service without a computer at first. Just hope you can still use a wireless mouse & keyboarded if needed.

Nope, not even close, this is the reason why windows 10 has been made, no one wants TV computers and there's no need for it, if people want a media center, it's easier and cheaper to just buy a compact media PC with wireless media center controller like this> Trust Tocamy Wireless Entertainment Keyboard USB 18008 5052181544205 | eBay

There is a bunch of High end HDTVs at Wal-mart that comes with wifi and included internet browser not talking about Google Chrome Cast but some list this as an additional option. The cost is more than $500 U.S. dollars. Manufactures wouldn't waste time putting something in tvs that people won't use. (Closed Caption is required by U.S. law)

I did forget a group a people that would still needed computers, home run businesses.

The main keys to success or failure of internet tvs is cost of the set and how easy or hard it is to use with the remote provided.

If the computer cheaper then the tv, people will choose computer but if the tv cheaper, some people will choose tvs. My grandmother would of possible been able to use the tv internet easier than a computer.

I have a "Smart TV" and they are so difficult to use, the internet is hit or miss on it, it's just too counter intuitive. It wasn't a cheap TV either

Without the ability to contact a keyboard and mouse the TV as a computer will not gain any traction. . .

Not sure about a mouse, but some do have wireless keyboards. However, networks some how able to tells if your streaming a video to tv instead of a computer and some are blocking them according to one site.

Wifi still needs work, there is one small cable company is testing wifi. You have one cord coming into to your house to a big device. This device will broadcast your service to all your tvs, computers and other devices that are wifi cable or have a WPS button. You will only need one convertor. You might need wifi receiver & booster depending on how big your house is. The issue will be limiting the signal to your home and/or apartment.

    Mr Needs,
If your tv operating system is similar to the palm tablet, there will be a major firmware update to fix some issues real soon but no actual date.

I'm a TV repair tech. All the TV companies are hurting with low prices (they share that hurt with us ). Most customers are using their TV for content (Netflix mostly). They still don't have very powerful CPUs (compared to Desktops especially). I don't think I have yet met a customer who uses their TV for more then an occasional search. Things could change, a large screen is always nice when using a PC, but so far the separation is still large. A Guy

It will probably find a niche with people who want to spend "some" time on the net, but don't want the hassles that come with owning a PC (Viruses, upgrades, etc.).
