Android 12 no longer allows scrcpy to stream due to protected content

Phone-to-PC screen mirroring tool 'scrcpy' now supports Android 12

Android 12 updates no longer allows creating shell permissions to create a secure display due to protected content.
The solution ( As of now ) is to not upgrade your android 12 ( turn off automatic updates ) or even roll-back to Android 11,
or just do not auto-update your android version at all.

scrcpy an opern-source application project that allows seeming-less streaming of video ( and audio depending on version and setup ) via android devices ( especially samsung ) is being discovered and used by millions to display video on their computing ( Windows/Linux/OSX/Android-TV ) devices. Eliminating the need to mirror ( iff supported ) or purchase extra streaming kits like
    phone to HDMI devices.

I myself use the application for display video to my computer, and watching on my HD-TV, while outputting audio to high-end sound devices ( PC or living-room speakers ) I also recommend the device to my parents ( who wants to watch their streaming content ) on their TV via a computer hooked up to HDMI ( where mirroring is not supported ). Rather then purchasing a new tv, they could just use their 200X labtop via windows 10 ( at least supporting scrcpy ) to view whatever content
    on their tv.

We understand the need for protective content ( DRM ) . Like how viewing Netflix, Disney, or Amazon on enabled via your devices. However the ability to view and listen to whatever you want from your device should be a choice of the end-user and not the choice of the OS provider.

Yes a person with way too much time on their hands could output the audio and video as with OBS studio. However that person would be limited to the resolution of scrcpy and the resolution of their desktop. The output content would be nowhere near 10-bit variants or even HD-content. That being said most content on streaming app services are not so great at all, so it makes no sense to block "protective content" ( secure display ) services.

Further more people already have options of non-android media services and even P2P/cloud via devices like the Firestick, that passes through HDMI ports.

Android 12 was released October 2021 and I have never noticed this behavior, Android 13 came out Aug 2022 and I have not noticed any changes. Android 14 is coming out soon (Oct 2023 and hope it does not change).

It is android 12 and up I am talking about.

    I am talking scrcpy.

It allows you to put your android screen on any computing device that support it. So far in the following order

    Windows
    Linux
    Android

    Have this ability.

For many people they do not want to have to use the data or invest in a high-end internet service. So your just port your android display to any computing device that is running scrcpy.

It saves money and time. The Android 12 is forcing people to spend more money.

If your so smart???? then show me android 12 ( or 13 ) or whatever running something like Netflix, Hulu, Disney++, or Prime.
It displays the android number in the CMD and your actions taken.

Just to be clear, Here are links to scrcpy I use.
Scrcpy -- GitHub - Genymobile/scrcpy: Display and control your Android device
Scrcpy+ -- GitHub - Frontesque/scrcpy-plus: A simple GUI for SCRCPY and other ADB functions

    If your so smart????
I had no intention of verbally punching or kicking or hurting your feelings I only stated my observation's of using the Google YouTube app maybe they don't have any DRM protections or the video I watched did not have any.

I find the quality video playback to be poor even with my 61 year old eye's

I believe you can buy a device that plugs into the phone's USB connector and to a computer to stream with.

Just yet another reason as to why I hate Google and at that Android. Better off getting a phone like a Google Pixel (Ha! Google...) and flash it with GrapheneOS or whatever... Instructions are not too terribly hard to follow.

    Okay lets play this game.

    1. Yes there are many devices from the Samsung G4 days to plug into HDMI and many phones with hdmi mini/micro jacks on them.

    2. But this is not the past. In the future world ( everything after 2001 is future for me ) we use home-made applications, and programs that allows you to use the same cable you charge with and move data through to stream media without purchasing anything else extra. Could you imagine that. You could just plug in your usb in your smart TV ( or even cordless from what I am reading/ Apparently scrcpy can be used wireless under certain conditions met ) or your computer and start up an application that communicates with your device.

Why should I have to struggle or pretend I am too dumb, addicted to looking at a tiny gameboy screen when I could just plug the same cable I use to charge with ? Why do I have to wait for something so simple that will never be released at all because it is too good to be true.

Wireless keyboard + android-phone + plugged ( and charged into Smart ( android TV if supported ) and or Computer plugged into Android TV ( or short throw projector ) or display =

Not being that person that still uses a cable-box and literally will go through five or six smart TV that have less quality then a display-TV from 2012.

    Why?

Money > then purchasing plastic or an imaginary application/program that spies on me secretly, when I could just use my USB cable

Why am I going into distress because Android 12 makes me feel brain-dead as I see the words appear on the TV/Display but the image only shows on the tiny-gameboy screen.

Why? Please tell me why, when wow I could use my Android 4.0 devices without using Screen Mirroring but not 12. It is the Nvidia Sheild Tablet all over again and it's lie about HDMI out no video-display.

I live in future world and I refuse to make another payment of something I already own or know is able to function in a way it is meant to. Just like with car-batteries. Did you know you could make your car-battery a new? They did it back in the 1950's with serviceable batteries but here comes the 80's and the die-hard commercials to the 2000's and the mainland-Asia warehouses filled to the brim with unsold car batteries that can not hold a charge and needs to be renew again.
