Hey Jeff,
I've been wanting to get into programming for awhile now and I was suggested to start with python and then move to the more difficult ones. Ultimately I would like to learn C, but that's later down the road.
Would you say that this is good place to learn? I'm on string formatting, at the moment. Welcome - Learn Python - Free Interactive Python Tutorial

Yes, I think Python is the best language to start with.
Here's a class I took this year and it's FREE! The instructor is great and the text book is a free download.

In addition the sight you found is very good as well. If you have any questions feel free to PM me.
Good luck
Jeff :)
You can wait but if you want to start now:
PythonLearn - Exploring Data
That has the entire class and the text book is here:
PythonLearn - Exploring Data
You can take the class and get a free certificate but if you don't care about that just start now.
The class is very good for beginners, IMO.
Have fun and good luck with it.
Any questions.. PM me.
Jeff :)
PS, the class is just a number of lectures for each week, some reading and doing programming assignments.
It's a nice slow introduction to Python. It makes use of 2.7.8.
Python download: https://www.python.org/
The IDE I use: pyscripter - An open-source Python Integrated Development Environment (IDE) - Google Project Hosting
Contact me on how to adjust the set up on PyScripter.
