Frame Freeze / Audio Glitch Loop / Second Monitor Turns Black

    Hi everyone! :)

So about a month ago I built a new PC using a combination of new parts and left over parts from my old build. The part list is listed below. Parts from my old PC are denoted with an *. I want to note that I had no problems with my previous build, and all the hardware worked flawlessly (no BSODs, no errors, etc).

    Case: NZXT s340
    Motherboard: Z97 GAMING 5
    GPU: GTX 960*
    CPU: i7-4790k
    RAM: 16GBs RAM*
SSD: 1 128GB SSD (Windows 10 installed on SSD)
    HDD: 1 1TB 7200RPM HDD* and 1 2TB 7200RPM HDD*
    PSU: EVGA SuperNOVA 650 watt

What happens is that the PC will randomly freeze on whatever frame was present at the time, the audio will glitch out and loop, and then my second monitor will turn black like it isn't receiving video. I then have to manually power off (hard reset) and then restart the PC. This doesn't occur often (maybe once every couple of days), but since I work from this PC, it's a big annoyance for me haha.

There is no BSOD or anything either. I've download BlueScreen Viewer and there's absolutely no error logs, reports, etc. I even have the option enabled to generate dump files, but still nothing.

    What I've tried:
I've checked all my temperatures and everything is good. Everything is also running at stock clocks.
I've reinstalled Windows 10 twice on the SSD.
I've ran MemTest86 for 7 hours numerous times and no errors. I've also re-seated my RAM sticks.

I'm kind of at a lost here.

    Thanks guys!

    Hi PotatoBSOD,

    Welcome to the 10forums :)

A system freeze is similar to a shutdown & restart crash, they do not generate a dump, more they don't have in common except that they can be hard to troubleshoot.
A BSOD is a crash where Windows prevents data from becoming corrupted or if there is already corruption preventing more corruption. With freezes and shutdown/restart crashes Windows cannot do anything to prevent problems.

I see you have Razer devices, I would recommend that you replace them while troubleshooting.

    Similar problems.

I am having similar problems to this also, I havent ever noticed the audio problem but that may be due to the fact that there has never been anything playing at the time. I am still searching also this just started for me also and is random in timing, could be a couple of days before it crashes (freezes) could be a couple of hours...

We'll need more data BSOD Posting Instructions
The only thing I get from the data is that it is about a memory access violation but that can be caused by different things.

    Diagnostic Test

     DRIVER VERIFIER

    warning   Warning
Please make a backup of your important files and get your rescue media or create one.
    Please create a restore point.

Please follow this tutorial to run driver verifier.

Driver verifier stresses your drivers and will crash your pc if any driver fails due to a violation.

Driver verifier should be performed for a max of 48 hours, or when you have a bluescreen, whatever comes first.

If driver verifier has found a violation and you can't get back into windows normally, try to boot into safe mode and reset in safe mode driver verifier, or in the troubleshooting options open command prompt and type verifier /reset.

    Note   Note
Your system will act very sluggishly while driver verifier is enabled, this is normal as your drivers will be being subjected to heavy testing in order to make them crash.

OK, so I've ran driver verifier for the past two nights while I sleep and had no bluescreens. I turn it off to do some work this morning and had another bluescreen. I've attached the logs.

    Diagnostic Test

     RAM TEST

Run MemTest86+ to analyse your RAM. MemTest86+ - Test RAM - Windows 10 Forums

    Note   Note

MemTest86+ needs to be run for at least 8 complete passes for conclusive results. Set it running before you go to bed and leave it overnight. We're looking for zero errors here. Even a single error will indicate RAM failure.

Make a photo of the result and post it.

    Addition:
If errors show up you can stop the test, remove all sticks but 1 and test this single stick in each slot for 8 passes or until errors show, switch sticks and repeat.
If errors show up and you see them a lot later, no problem, the errors don't affect the test.
