So Axe0 I need help here. I didn't uninstall and reinstall the nvidia drivers yet because I wanted to wait to see if the BSOD happened 1 more time. It just happened but again, the minidump file is nowhere to be found. I wanted to send it to you so I ran the dm log collector and it pulled up the same 2 from the other day and in January. Where is the dump file supposed to be after my laptop restarts from the BSOD Driver Power State Failure??
I checked in c/windows/minidump and only the 1 I sent you the other day and 1 from January is in there. Am I missing something here?? Remember when I wrote that 1 minidump just disappeared because I couldn't find it on my laptop right after the BSOD happened?? Same thing just now and I have the settings set to save the minidumps. Please help because I want to send you the newest crash info. Thx.
I will, gonna get some sleep first cause I was up all night and then do it. Wish me luck.
Just wondering though, why do you think my last 2 BSOD's didn't save the minidumps to my laptop?? It's weird huh?? I checked the c/windows/minidump directory and it wasn't there.
There can be various reasons why a dump hasn't been created.
- the memory is corrupted
- corruption in the file system
- service for the error reports is improper
- configuration is improper
Hey Axe0 I uninstalled and reinstalled my nvidia drivers from Toshiba, restarted my computer and now it says an nvidia graphics card was not detected in my system. Please help me, I don't know what to do.
Okay so I installed it again and this time it worked BUT, as soon as I started a game for a minute and exited it, none of the other games would load. That was a sign that the stupid BSOD was going to happen again and sure enough, that's what happened. After 3 minutes of me trying to load game after game the Driver Power State Failure happened but this time it created a new minidump file which I zipped and attached. Curious to know what the cause is now Axe0.
By the way, this only started happening less than a week ago, I'm wondering if the new "forced" windows 10 update that usually occurs once every 10 days or so was the cause. What do you think Axe0? Should I try a restore point? I am frustrated because everything was working fine until a week or so ago. Could it be Steam? They have been updating a lot lately too so could that be interfering with this? Probably not I guess but I'm trying to think of everything.
Sigh, for the record I tried 2 restore points, 1 for March 2nd and then my internet wifi wasn't working(windows sockets registry entries required for network connectivity are missing) so I tried a restore point for March 9th. Then my internet worked again but as soon as I loaded a game and quit, within 3 minutes the BSOD came up and my computer reset.
Please please help Axe0. Should I try Boris' suggestion about the driver on the nvidia website? I am so confused and depressed.
Well Mikey from my experience I would recommend that you either download the pair of drivers that I linked or then download and install the GeForce Experience that will identify and then download the best suited drivers for your card.
GeForce Experience
And if you really doesn't trust me, then you can surely contact NVIDIA support and ask them on how to proceed.
I mean I'm only here to help people but axe0 seems to be hell-bent on the fact that I'm trying to persuade you to join the dark side.
Cheers, Boris :)
