KERNEL_SECURITY_CHECK_FAILURE while attempting to use x264/Handbrake

    Hey,

i'm getting a KERNEL_SECURITY_CHECK_FAILURE BSOD shortly after or by execution of the win10 version of handbrakeCLI (uses x264 encoder).
In compability mode (win7) it seems to work.

I updated the drivers before the last bluescreen (from the Lenovo homepage) but that didn't do the trick.

Laptop was upgraded from Win8 to Win10 some while ago. Dumps point to dxgmms2.sys or ntoskrnl.exe. Don't think it's an application fault, is it?

Could you explain to me what this handbrakeCLI software is? I'm unfamiliair with it.

Dumps point to dxgmms2.sys or ntoskrnl.exe. Don't think it's an application fault, is it?

Most of the crashes show some stuff of the DirectX Kernel graphics (dxgmms2.sys) what points to the display drivers usually.
The ntoskrnl.exe is Windows Kernel, simplified it is never the true cause unless you experience a hell lot of problems (much more then only bluescreens).

Daemon tools, Alcohol 120% and Power Archiver Pro uses SCSI Pass Through Direct (SPTD), which is a well known cause for BSOD's.
Please remove Daemon Tools and run the SPTD pass through remover.

    1. Uninstall Daemon Tools
    2. Download the SPTD standalone installer and follow these steps:
      • Double click the executable to open it
      • Click on the button shown below

If the button is grayed out, like in the image, there is no more SPTD installation on your system, and you can close the window

It's a open source video transcoder, the CLI stands for the command-line version (see quote beneath)

"HandBrake is a tool for converting video from nearly any format to a selection of modern, widely supported codecs." - from the official homepage

I tried it again after uninstalling Daemon Tools and looking for the SPTD but no luck whatsoever. I'll attach the current bluescreen.

A question, do you use both your GPU's?
